Dr. Cole is Board-Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Washington, Seattle Washington. He is currently in practice and is the President and Medical Director of Northwest Spine & Sports Physicians, P.C. in Bellevue, Washington. Dr. Cole is a member of the Medical Advisory Board for Spine-health.com and a frequent author and peer-reviewer for Arthritis-health.com.
Dr. Cole has served on numerous committees for multiple local, regional, state, national and international organizations. He is the past president of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation’s Musculoskeletal Society, PASSOR from 1998 to 1999. He received the Richard and Hinda Rosenthal Foundation Lectureship from the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in 1997 for making outstanding contributions to the nonoperative management of lumbar spine pain. He received this award specifically for his work in aquatic approaches for rehabilitation of spine pain. Dr. Cole has edited seven textbooks and has published over 100 articles related to the nonoperative management of spine and peripheral joint musculoskeletal dysfunction.
Dr. Andrew Cole attended Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts and graduated Cum Laude with a BA in Politic Science and International Relations. In 1995, he received his Medical Degree from the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia. He completed his Internship at St. Mary’s Hospital & Medical Center in San Francisco, California in 1986. He next completed his Residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, New York City in 1989. He subsequently completed a fellowship in musculoskeletal research also at Columbia University and then in 1990 completed a fellowship in the Nonoperative Management of Spine, Sports and Occupational Injuries with the SpineCare Medical Group in Daly City, California.
