The hip impingement test is a test to use to help determine if you have a labral tear within your hip.
To do this test, you're gonna be laying on your back and then you're going to move your hip both into external and internal rotation. So you can lay on the ground or your bed wherever you're comfortable. And then your’re going to bring your hip up to about 90 degrees. First you're going to rotate into external rotation. So to do this you're going to bring your ankle towards you.
If this causes any pain, please stop. Then you're going to go into some internal rotation to do that you're going to move your foot away from you like that.
If you have this test done to you in an office, they may bring you into some internal rotation and then even move your hip a little bit towards you to help determine if that brings on any pain through that hip joint.
