Hi. I'm Natalie, and today Veritas Health is going to show you an IT band stretch for hip pain relief. This stretch is great for anyone who's having pain on the outside of the hip or even the outside of the knee or thigh. The stretch works by stretching the tissues and muscles that feed into your IT band and can help improve flexibility and relieve pressure through that area. To do this stretch, I'm going to have you head over to a wall. You're going to stand with the side you want to stretch closest to the wall, about a foot or two feet away from the wall. You can then put your elbow up there and then lean your hips towards the wall.

What you're looking for is a gentle stretch through the side of your hip or even the side of your thigh. You can hold the stretch for 30 seconds and work up, performing three times on each side. If this stretch increases your pain or makes any of your symptoms worse, please discontinue and consult with your medical provider.
